Welcome Amore (Rae) Marshall to the Birmingham Volleyball Club!

She is currently a senior and a volleyball player at Emmanuel University in Franklin Springs, Georgia, where she plays as a DS (Defensive Specialist). Rae is working towards becoming an occupational therapist. She has been assistant coaching and training players for about 4 years. She can’t wait to be a part of the BVC coaching family this upcoming year!

Jessica is embarking on her third exciting year coaching at BVC. With experience coaching the 10s club team and nurturing younger recreational teams (Volley Tots), she focuses on developing the foundational skills that will serve her players for years to come. Drawing from her background as a collegiate athlete, Jessica understands the significance of fostering a love for the game and is dedicated to inspiring this same passion in every player she has the privilege to coach.

Porsha is celebrating 6 amazing years at BVC! 🌟 Spent time as head coach at Cornerstone and Altamont, former assistant at Homewood HS, and have coached ages 11-18s. Graduated from Pelham HS as one of the top 5 hitters in the state and played at Coastal Alabama CC, making it to Nationals my freshman year.

Proud to be coaching for 7 years now!

With an impressive 28-year tenure in coaching club and high school sports, Angie brings a wealth of experience and an unparalleled passion for the game. Her journey as a three-sport college athlete is a testament to her dedication and versatility.

Angie played volleyball at Wallace State and UNA, and showcased her talents in basketball, softball, and volleyball at UNA, before finishing her collegiate career at UAH.

Currently, as the head coach at McAdory High School (6A), Angie has led her team to remarkable success, including an inspiring run to the Elite 8 last year. Her commitment to developing young athletes and her deep understanding of the game make her an invaluable asset to the BVC family. We are thrilled to have her back!

The BVC is proudly announcing Carly Woods will be back next season in a coaching role!! 🌟 With 22 years of club coaching experience across all age groups from 10s to 18s, Coach Carly has refined her skills and developed a true passion for the game. Recently, she led our 12 National team to an impressive 25th place national ranking in the top USAV 12s division. Her high school coaching journey includes impactful roles at Pelham (JV), Oak Mountain (9th), Mountain Brook (9th), and as the head varsity coach at Chelsea.
As a player, Carly was a standout Outside Hitter, earning All-State honors at Shades Valley HS. At South Florida Community College, she achieved All-Conference recognition and still holds the single match and single season dig records. Her collegiate career continued at Georgia Southwestern, where she was part of a conference championship team and earned spots on the All-Conference and All-Region teams.
In her role at BVC, Coach Carly looks forward to working with the 16 National team and the 12-1 team.

We are thrilled to welcome back Beverly Wright for her second year with the BVC! 🏐🏐 With nine years of volleyball coaching experience, Beverly’s skill and dedication to the game are tremendous assets to our club. Currently the JV coach at McAdory High School, she continues to inspire and develop young athletes. We’re excited to have her back!

This man needs no introduction!

The General! Coach Lance has over 30 years of coaching experience, with head coaching roles at Oak Mountain and bench positions at Spain Park, Hoover, and Pelham. He’s contributed to three state championships—two with Pelham and one most recently with Hoover. We appreciate all he does for the club! He will leading the 15 National team!

Welcome back to the BVC, Michael Heard! 🌟 With twenty-three years in assistant coaching roles at Spain Park, Mountain Brook, Oak Mountain High Schools, and Samford University, and four years as the Varsity Head Coach of John Carroll High School, Coach Heard brings a wealth of expertise to our team. His dedication and success in the sport are truly remarkable. Now on staff at Briarwood, he continues to inspire and lead. Coach Mike will be helping with our 11’s.

With 11 years of playing experience, including time on the University of Alabama 🐘🔴⚪️ Men’s Club Volleyball team, and 4 years of coaching both beach and indoor, we’re excited to see you bring your international experience from Italy and the US back to our courts. 🏐🇮🇹🇺🇸

The BVC is thrilled to announce Haven O’Quinn as our 13 National Team Coach for the upcoming season!

With 16 years of coaching experience, Haven has achieved success at every level.

– Mountain Brook High School: Led the team to back-to-back-to-back state championships.

Birmingham-Southern College: Coached 5 All-Americans, was named SAA Coach of the Year, and won the 2019 Southern Athletic Association Volleyball Title.

– Montevallo University: Made it to the semi-finals of the Gulf South Conference tournament in her first year.

In her playing days at Troy University, Haven is one of only three players to achieve over 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs.

We are excited to have her expertise and passion on our team!

We are thrilled to welcome back Naomi Ortiz to the BVC family! Naomi brings extensive volleyball experience to our team. During her beach volleyball career at UAB, she achieved 17 wins as a freshman, placing her 7th in program history. Welcome back, Coach Naomi!
