Team News and Highlights
3/6/2010 - Congratulations to the BVC 12-1 team for winning the Cyclone tournament in Atlanta!!
They played in a 7 team pool on 2 nets which setup for a long day, they finished 8-2, 2nd in the
pool. The finals were against an A5 team that they lost to earlier in the day but the serves were on
and 3 contacts were the norm, they even had a player jumpserve most of the day. They won the
champioship in 2 games as a team. Everything "clicked" throughout the whole day - this is just the
beginning to further success, keep working hard!
2/27/2010 - The BVC 12-1 team went to the Chick-Fil-A Alliance tournament in Nashville 2/27-28
and played in the 12 club division. The team was 3rd in pool play Saturday and made it to the finals
of the silver division Sunday before a third game loss to end the tournament. The teams' confidence
is building and improvements are seen everyday both individually and as a team. Great job girls!!!
2/13/2010 - The BVC 153 team came into the Valentines Bash hoping to finish what last week's
tournament started. The competition was greater in the host tournament so they would need to be
on their game. Unfortuneately, Saturday's pool play matches were up and down. BVC 153 finished
tied for 2nd in their pool at 3-3, beating Atlanta Boom 152 twice, losing to Delta Force 151 twice
and splitting with GA5 153. They ended as the 3 seed because of the tie-breaker procedures.
Disappointed by their finish, the BVC 153 team entered Sundays play focused and ready to right
some wrongs. It was on! The BVC 153's blew by Club Crimson 151 2-0 and avenged Saturday's
sweep by defeating Delta Force 151 2-1 to finish as winners in the Gold division and 5th overall in
the tournament. Coach Lynette and I are proud of our players toughness but also know the
potential is there for something greater. Hopefully, the organizers at our next tournament (March
6th-Atlanta) will have a facility big enough to hold all of our devoted fans and A+ decorated food
table!
2/13/2010 - The BVC 16-2 team played up in 16 power this weekend for BVC's home VDAY BASH
tournament. Coming into the tournament, the 16-2 team was ranked 48th overall. They were
placed into a difficult pool with the 13th ranked and 18th ranked teams in it. They started off
Saturday looking strong and splitting with the #1 place team in their pool. After that match, they
slowed down and could not get back their intensity. They finished 4th out of their pool, but were
ready to start fresh on Sunday. They finished 5th in the silver bracket on Sunday losing a tough
match in the quarterfinals. Overall it was a great weekend and the team is looking forward to doing
hard work in practice the next two weeks to get ready for their upcoming tournament in Nashville,
TN.
2/13/2010 - After finishing 4th place on 1/30 at the AL Jrs tournament, BVC 13-2 in our first two-
day tournament of the year represented the BVC family in outstanding fashion by making it to the
13 Club Division finals of the Valentine’s BASH! We finished 1st in our pool on Saturday with a 5-1
record, and never looked back. Our best match was definitely in the semi-finals, wherein we took
on a scrappy Monarch 13-1 team who took us to an exciting 3rd set tiebreaker. The girls were down
8-2 at the side change and came back and won 15-12 with some consistent serving, gritty defense,
and the DISCIPLINE to play 3-contact volleyball against a team that found a way to practically dig
back over the net everything we hit at them. In the Finals, we learned more about ourselves and
each other after coming up a bit short, 24-26 and 12-25, and we are ALL committing to do what-
ever it takes to take it to the next level. The journey continues and we couldn’t be more excited
about our path to REGIONALS in April. AWESOME JOB LADIES!!!
2/6/2010 - The BVC 15-3 team ventured to Chattanooga to play in the 20-team Choo-Choo VBC
Invitational tournament. BVC 153 was seeded 5th in their 5 team pool but, against all odds and the
SRVA "scouting report", finished 7-1 and won their pool. Using the momentum, BVC 153 won their
quarterfinal match in 3 games. Sadly, their tourney run ended with a loss in the semifinals. Their
3rd place finish out of 20 teams was a very good start to the year. The BVC 153 team is looking
forward to making more noise in next week's Mucho Grande Valentines Bash Spectacular, stay tuned!
2/6/2010 - the BVC 16-2 team played in the Choo Choo City tournament in Chattanooga, TN.
They got off to a great start and only lost one game in pool play to put them in 1st place going into
the semi-finals. They beat a tough NETVC 16-1 team in 3 games to move onto the championship
game. They played Choo Choo City, but fell short to end up 2nd in the whole tournament. The
16-2 team entered the tournament ranked 45th overall and ended up beating the 25th ranked
team, Phoenix Rising 16-1, to hopefully move up in the rankings. We look forward to a great home
tournament this coming weekend!
1/30/2010 - The BVC 12-1 team started the season at a local 12 power/club combined tournament
in Birmingham, Jan. 30th. The team did not come away with a win but big improvements were
definitely seen!! BVC 12-1 is off to a great start of learning the game, better communication and
movement will be crucial to the teams development.
1/23/2010 - The BVC 16-2 team traveled to Montgomery this weekend to play in the Heart of
Dixie tournament to play in 16 club. They made it all the way to the Championship game and
but came up short to finish in 2nd place.
1/23/2010 - The BVC 13-2 team traveled to their first tournament of the year in Nashville,TN
and did a fantastic job including knocking out a 13-1 team to start the tournament. Our
serve/receive was a consistent strength all day and helped us stay in a lot of matches wherein we
scored 20 points or more in ALL but one set in pool play. We finished in a three-way tie for 2nd in
our pool, and had a playoff game to 15 and came up a bit short 15-10 after being down 8-11 at
the switch. We finished 5th over all out of ten teams. Congratulations girls on a solid start to a
club season that is guaranteed to be a success!
1/16/2010 - The BVC 16-1 team had a great showing at their season opener. On January 16 the
team traveled to Chattanooga for the one day Choo Choo City tournament. BVC came out first in
their five team pool, but were knocked out in the semi-finals. The team is off to a great start and
ready for what is sure to be an exciting season!
